KUALA BERANG: Two major roads in the Hulu Terengganu district were closed due to floods that hit the area since this morning.
Hulu Terengganu district police chief DSP Mohd Adli Mat Daud said as of 4.30 pm, the 500-metre stretch of Jalan Menerong in Kampung Lubuk Periuk, Ajil, was closed to all vehicles after the road was flooded under one metre of water.
"As an alternative route, users can use Jalan Felda Mengkawang-Belukar Bukit-Kuala Berang," he said in a statement here today.
Besides that he said, Jalan Matang-Nibong-Kuala Telemong in Kampung Nibong and Kampung Bukit Tadok which was submerged in 0.6 metre-deep of floodwater was closed to light vehicles.
Motorists could use Jalan Kampung Tajin-Kampung Kuala Telemong as an alternative route, he added.
Mohd Adli said Jalan Simpang Kampung Gaung to Simpang Sungai Tong in Kampung Kuala Ping had now been re-opened to all vehicles after the flood water inundating the right lane of the road had started to recede.
Hulu Terengganu Civil Defence Force officer Lt (PA) Sansuri Yacob, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed that no relief centres were opened today adding that in this current cloudy weather, continuous rain would cause several low-lying areas to be inundated. — Bernama
