PUTRAJAYA: A total of 12 National Employment One-Stop Service Centres are set to begin operating in Urban Transformation Centres (UTC) nationwide from tomorrow to provide comprehensive employment-related services to the people, said Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem.
He said the one-stop centre, formerly known as the JobsMalaysia Centre, would provide job advice and training services under one roof through the involvement of several agencies such as 1Malaysia Training Scheme (SL1M), Bumiputra Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju), Social Security Organisation (Socso) and Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB).
"The setting up of the centres at UTCs is an integrated initiative by the Government to provide structured employment and training services in line with current needs," he said in a statement here, today.
Riot said the establishment of the centre stemmed from the suggestion by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak while tabling Budget 2018.
He said the centre also provided registration service job seekers; career guidance; job matching; open interviews by employers; registration, application and interview for participating in the SL1M programme; registration and application for Teraju programme; and application for training facilities through PSMB.
Riot said following the implementation of the Employment Insurance Scheme (SIP) this year, the one-stop centre also provided registration services for loss of employment and application for benefits under SIP.
He said the National Employment One Stop Service Centres would operate daily from 8am to 10pm.
According to Riot, as of Nov 30, 2017, a total of 183,433 job seekers, especially youths, had been successfully placed by JobsMalaysia into various job sectors.
He said the number was expected to increase each year, through an active collaboration network established through the one-stop centres in UTCs, as well as licensed private Employment Agencies in the country. – Bernama
