Pregnant woman and lover plead guilty to child abuse

AMPANG: A pregnant woman and her lover pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court, here, yesterday to a charge of abusing her three children aged between 10-months to five years.
Nor Suhada Firhana Mohd Noh, 22, and Muhammad Zulfikar Rizal Affendy, 26, pleaded guilty after the charge was read out to them before Sessions judge Azrul Darus.
The judge then set Feb 5 for sentencing pending a medical report.
The duo was charged with jointly intending to abuse and neglect the three children comprising of a five-year-old, three-year-old and a 10-month-old baby girl.
Nor Suhada who is three-months pregnant and Muhammad Zulfikar is accused of committing such acts at a premise located in Jalan Pandan 3/10, Pandan Jaya here, between Nov 16 and Dec 21, 2017.
They are charged under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001 and punishable by Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of 20 years jail or fine or both if found guilty.
Deputy public prosecutor Norhashimah Hashim did not offer any bail to both accused.
Counsel Kelvinder Singh Sindhu who represented the duo did not object as his clients did not have a bailor.
It was reported prior that doctors had discovered bruises on the body and the stomach of the baby which was suspected was due to abuse.
