Blueprint hitch on PJ bus terminal

PETALING JAYA: Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) has yet to receive the water supply system blueprint for the Petaling Jaya Old Town Bus Terminal in Jalan Othman.

Syabas corporate communications department general manager Siti Zubaidah Zakaria said water supply connection will only be made once the developer complies with all regulations.

"The water supply system blueprint for the development has not been handed to Syabas for us to start water connection.

"It is the responsibility of the developer of any project to complete the water supply system according to the specifications set out by Syabas," she said in a statement.

The blueprint, that comprises a detailed description and schematic diagrams of water flow in the area, is one of the requirements in applying for water supply connection.

Siti Zubaidah said developers would usually submit the blueprint to Syabas once it has been completed and an inspection had been made to determine compliance.

She added that Syabas would assist in facilitating the delivery of the water supply system at the bus terminal.

"Once the developer submits the blueprint to us, we will connect the water supply immediately," she said.

The statement from Syabas came following a report published in theSun last Friday on the delay in the opening of the new bus terminal.

According to a Petaling Jaya Municipal Council source, the terminal could not be opened because the building has no water supply. The source added that the developer had since liaised with with Syabas on rectification works done at the terminal.
