Firemen stop suicide attempt in Ipoh

IPOH: Firemen managed to coax and stop a man who was on the verge of jumping from a condominium at Jalan Raja DiHilir, here today.

The department sent a team after they received a distress call at 7.20am.

Operations officer Syed Asrul Hizam Abd Aziz said: "We spotted the man standing outside a unit on the 12th floor.

"Our personnel went up the building and managed to talk the man into giving up.

"Firemen pulled him using ropes and later handed him over to medical personnel from the Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Hospital," he added.

Later, Ipoh City Police chief ACP Mohd Ali Thamby said the 32-year-old man from Jalan Kompleks Sukan here was in stable condition.

According to Mohd Ali, based on information from the family the man decided to jump following a failed relationship.
