Tahfiz murder accused, 16, discharged on drug charge

KUALA LUMPUR: A teenager, who was charged with the murder of 23 people, including pupils and two teachers cum warden of the Tahfiz Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah centre, was discharged not amounting to acquittal from a drug charge.
Magistrate Zilfinaz Abbas granted a discharge not amounting to acquittal to the 16-year-old murder accused after the prosecution led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Nordin Ismail and DPP Norakmal Farhan Aziz applied for the order.
The case was brought up for a mention before the Child Court today.
The accused was charged under section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952, for self-administration or consuming drugs and he had claimed trial on Nov 28, last year.
The teenager and another 16-year-old, were jointly charged on Sept 28, 2017 with the murder of the 23 people at the Tahfiz centre located at Jalan Keramat Hujung, Kampung Datuk Keramat, between 4.15am and 6.45am on Sept 14, 2017.
The 23 victims were Muhammad Aidil Aqmal Mohd Zamzuri, 10, Mohd Yusuf Md, 26 (teacher), Muhammad Hasrullah Ismail, 14, Ahmad Harith Adam Mohd Nor Hadi, 12, Muhammad Afiq Haqimie Hairulizwan, 11, Muhammad Amrul Nizam Sakarno, 25 (teacher), Muhammad Hafiz Iskandar Mohd Sulaiman, 11, Muhammad Syafiq Haikal Abdullah, 13, Muhammad Haikal Abdullah, 12, Amiel Asyraaf Abd Rasid, 11, Nik Muhammad Ridzuan Nik Azalan, 12, Muhammad Harris Ikhwan Mohd Sulaiman,10, Azkar Dariemi F.Zaska, 8,Muhammad Danieal Md Amin, 14, Umar Al Khattab Helmi,7, Muhammad Zattullah Roslan, 11,Azkar Abiedi F.Zaska, 11,Muhammad Fahmie Abdullah, 11, Muhammad Nizamudin Nasrun, 13, Ahmad Rijal Mohammad Rodzi, 13, Muhammad Hazim Ahmad Nor, 13, Muhammad Aiman Ramzanudin, 12,Muhammad Taufik Hidayat Norazizan, 16.
Earlier, the murder case was mentioned before another magistrate's court. The accused's lawyer Haijan Omar told the media that the murder case was transferred to a High Court and a date will be set later.
No plea was recorded. Lawyer Joanne Chua also represented the accused.
