Youth and siblings among 10 nabbed over drug abuse

ALOR STAR: A youth and his two younger sisters were among 10 people detained by the Kedah branch of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (Nada) for suspected drug abuse during an operation conducted around Padang Terap, since yesterday.
Padang Terap district Nada chief officer, Zainal Abidin Ismail said the three siblings aged 23, 19 and 15 respectively were arrested together with two men at a house in Kampung Rambutan at 4am today.
"In the raid, we were shocked to find the youth teaching his two younger sisters, who are not schooling, how to take the drug, syabu. We also detained the boyfriend of one of his sisters and another man at the scene.
"The three siblings' parents were at during the raid and the younger sister's boyfriend has been staying with the family since a month ago," he said in a statement, today.
Zainal Abidin said the operation from 11am yesterday until 4.30am today was also carried out at Kampung Barokhas, Kampung Tualak, Bukit Indin and the Padang Terap district police headquarters barracks where altogether the Nada officers managed to detain five more men for suspected drug abuse.
"All those arrested were brought to the Padang Terap district Nada office and the urine tests done found them all, aged between 15 and 30, to be positive for syabu and opiate," he said.
All the cases are being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependence (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983. — Bernama
