PUTRAJAYA:The Home Ministry will focus on eight aspects under its 25 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to strengthen the delivery levels of its officers, departments and agencies this year.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the reduction in the number of KPIs for the ministry from 38 in 2017 to 25 would not jeopardise his mission to ensure that the ministry remains outstanding in providing the best services to the people.
"For the 2017 KPI in 2017, I set up 38 KPIs with an achievement target of 138% but we managed to surpass the target by achieving 157%.
"This time despite the number of KPIs being reduced to 25 only, our focus will continue in strengthening and enhancing the performance of accountability of all departments under the ministry without feeling too comfortable or satisfied about it," he said in his speech during the launch of the Home Ministry's 2018 Strategic Planning book at the ministry, here today.
Following the launch, senior figures from the ministry, including Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun, among others celebrated Ahmad Zahid's 65th birthday.
The Home Minister said the eight major aspects included the strengthening and varying of the Community Engagement initiative in an effort towards crime prevention and increasing the safe environment perception among the people; tightening the rules and increasing enforcement to combat crime and illegals; and strengthening the national border security in the fight against human trafficking and migrant smuggling as well as cross-border crime among others.
"This will be done by streamlining preventive strategies such as control of radicalism, extremism and the fight against global terrorism, raising crime awareness through campaigns in various educational institutions, communities, workplace and social media and rehabilitation programs to curb the rate of addicts returning back to drug addiction," he said.
To ensure that the mission is a overwhelming success, Ahmad Zahid urged all staff from the Home Ministry to always put the people as their customers in a wider and more dynamic manner.
