More flood evacuees in Sabah Friday morning

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah opened another evacuation centre today after the number of flood evacuees in the Mambakut sub-district rose to 626 from 218 families as of 8 am, up from the 590 from 207 families last night.
The additional relief centre was opened at Bangunan Kafa Mambakut, said the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department.
"Some 463 people from 162 families are housed at the relief centre at Sekolah Menengah St Patrick and 127 people from 45 families are at the Membakut multipurpose hall.
"Thirty-six people from 11 families are being accommodated at Bangunan Kafa Mambakut," it said in a statement.
The department said 26 villages in the sub-district remained flooded and eight roads were impassable to traffic.
It also said that the level of Sungai Mambakut remained at the danger point of 6.13 metres this morning. – Bernama
