KAJANG: PKR's de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to be released from jail on June 11 this year, said his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
In her speech at the Pakatan Harapan Women Convention in Kajang, said it has been 1,602 days since Anwar was imprisoned.
"He not here with us today since he is in prison, his spirit his with us. As of today, it has been 1,602 days since he was imprisoned. If all goes well, he should be freed on June 11," she told the delegates who were there today.
Anwar was sentenced to five years' jail on Feb 10, 2015, for sodomising his former assistant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
He could be released in June under a one-third remission of his prison sentence, at the discretion of the Prisons Department director-general.
When asked if Pakatan Harapan had finalised its Prime Minister candidates, Wan Azizah said there were a few candidates who were eligible.
"We have a few eligible candidates, we will include women candidates as well," she said.
However, she refused to comment on the speculation that Anwar disagrees with the nomination of PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed as the interim prime minister.
