Driver injured as bus crashes into ravine

LAHAD DATU (Sabah): An express bus crashed into a ravine off Jalan Silam near here yesterday, resulting in the driver fracturing a leg.
None of the 10 passengers were hurt in the accident which happened at 6.40 pm when the bus was on its way from Sandakan to Semporna, said Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohd Apandi Mahmood.
He said in a statement today that the driver, Addy Rosel, had been sent to the Lahad Datu Hospital.
"The bus is believed to have knocked the rear of a lorry when the brake failed and then plunged into the three-metre-deep ravine," he said.
He said the station was notified of the accident at 6.51 pm and rushed nine personnel in two trucks to the scene. — Bernama
