Zunar's fans charged in court

KUALA LUMPUR: Two fans of cartoonist Zunar were charged in separate magistrate courts with obstructing a police personnel from inspecting the cartoonist's books, two years ago.
Toong Ah Tea, 61, a freelance engineer, claimed trial to a charge of obstructing DSP M.Gunalan from discharging his duty, by preventing him from inspecting the books which were exhibited at the first-floor lobby of the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall at 3.20pm on Dec 17, 2016.
Wong Chee Wai, 39, claimed trial to a similar charge of obstructing the same policeman at about 3.25pm at the same place and date.
The charges under Section 186 of the Penal Code carries a maximum two-year jail term and a fine of up to RM10,000 or both upon conviction.
Magistrate Siti Radziah Kamarudin set bail at RM5,000 bail with one surety for Toong and fixed Feb 8, 2018, for mention.
In another court, Magistrate Mahyudin Mohamad Sam granted bail of RM1,000 with one surety to Wong and set Feb 7 for mention.
Zunar whose real name is Zulkiflee Anwar Haque was present during today's proceedings.
