Fishmonger murdered due to family problem

SLIM RIVER: A fishmonger at a wet market here was allegedly murdered by his sister's boyfriend in front of a house in Taman Slim Permai here early today.
In the 2.30am incident, Rosli Zulkharnain Kamaruddin, 30, died while receiving treatment at the Slim River Hospital due to severe injuries after being stabbed with a knife in the abdomen.
Muallim district police chief Supt Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the suspect, aged 47, was also injured after being beaten by the victim's brother.
"The 38-year-old brother of the victim has been detained for causing hurt to the suspect including slamming his head on the road surface. The (injured) suspect, who is also a neighbour, had been in a relationship with the victim's 35-year-old sister," he said in a statement here today.
Rosli Zulkharnain said police did not rule out the possibility that the incident was related to family problem.
Police had seized two mobile phones and a knife, believed to have been used in the incident, at the scene for facilitate investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code, he added. — Bernama
