Assailants slash diner to death in probable revenge attack

KUALA SELANGOR: A 27-year-old man was slashed to death by a group of parang-wielding assailants in what is believed to be a revenge attack at a Tom Yam stall in Jeram, here yesterday.
Kuala Selangor district police chief Supt Mohd Asri Abdul Wahab said the victim had gone for his dinner with his friends at a food stall, before a group of assailants arrived.
"The victim, known as S. Mohan, who suffered multiple slash wounds after he was set upon by his attackers, about four of them at about 9.45pm.
"A car suddenly stopped near the stall and four parang-wielding men came out of the car and charged at the victim and his friends. On seeing the attackers whip out parangs, Mohan's friends ran out of the restaurant," he said today.
The four men repeatedly slashed the victim behind the stall.
The restaurant staff who witnessed the incident immediately alerted the police, who found Mohan's body lying in a pool of blood when they arrived at the scene.
Mohd Asri said initial investigations revealed that the victim, who was staying in Taman Permai here, was a lorry driver.
"Investigation also revealed that the suspects have escaped towards Kapar, Klang, and police are hot on the trail of the suspects," he added.
It is learnt that although the motive of the killing is yet to be ascertained, revenge could be one of the reasons and police were investigating this possibility.
Police are in the midst of tracing Mohan's three friends to facilitate in the investigation.
The body has been sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for a post-mortem.
