PETALING JAYA: DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang is set to defend his Gelang Patah seat in the 14th General Election (GE14).
Citing party officials and an unnamed DAP national leader, The Malaysian Insight today reported that Lim is recovering well from a surgery on Dec 19 to remove a small, cancerous tumour in the left kidney.
"The doctor asked him to rest for at least a month. He is recovering well. I think he should be out and about campaigning by this month-end," the portal quoted the party official as saying.
Lim won his first parliamentary seat in Bandar Melaka in 1969 and has gone on to win in Kota Melaka, Petaling, Tanjong, Ipoh Timur and Gelang Patah.
He was defeated once in 1995 when he stood against the then Penang chief minister and Gerakan vice-president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon in the Tanjung Bungah state seat.
