KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia, in partnership with the Terengganu government, will display the "Beautiful Terengganu, Malaysia" livery to promote the state for two years.
In a statement today, the low-cost airline said the state's tourism products would also be promoted inflight on the overhead compartment, back seat, table tray and in the airline's in-flight magazine, travel 3Sixty°.
AirAsia said the partnership would bring a positive impact on the state's tourism as the aircraft showcasing the livery would be flown to international destinations as well.
AirAsia Bhd Head of Commercial Spencer Lee said the livery is part of the airline's continuous collaborative effort with the state government to promote the beauty and wonders of Terengganu to its guests across Asia Pacific.
"Last year, we flew over 520,000 guests in and out of the state. And we believe the livery will attract more visitors to the state in line with the state government mission to prioritise the tourism industry this year as it directly benefits local small and medium enterprises," he said.
Meanwhile, Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said the collaboration with AirAsia would pave the way for other corporate bodies to initiate joint collaborations with the state.
He said Terengganu would be developed with specific attractions for tourists and by having the state's destination and tourism products on AirAsia livery, it would elevate the "Beautiful Terengganu, Malaysia" brand further.
AirAsia flies from Kuala Terengganu to Kuala Lumpur with 28 times weekly flights and to Johor Baru with three weekly flights.
As at 2017, AirAsia has flown over 2.5 million guests in and out of the state, with Malaysians, Chinese and Indonesians made up the top three nationalities. — Bernama
