GUA MUSANG: The Fire and Rescue Department's Air Unit made two mercy flights to separately bring two Orang Asli from their remote villages in Gua Musang district to hospital yesterday.
Its Subang Air Base public relations officer, Asst Supt Mohd Farhan Marzuki said two helicopters were used to send the two Orang Asli from Kampung Tandrik in Pos Bihai and Kampung Sedal in Pos Simpor, respectively to the Fire and Rescue Station grounds here before being rushed to Gua Musang Hospital.
He said the first flight using an Agusta A109E was made at 3.15 pm to transfer Lenagi Asop, 25, who was about to give birth in Kampung Tandrik.
"The second flight at 4 pm using an Agusta A139 was to save six-month-old baby, Rohan Andok, from Kampung Sedal who had high fever.
Mohd Farhan said the mercy flights yesterday were the unit's first for this year as both the villages had been cut off from the road.
