Three UniMAP lecturers chosen to train 100 teachers throughout Perlis

KANGAR: Three lecturers from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) have been chosen as the Main Trainers to provide training in computer science to 100 school teachers throughout Perlis.
UniMAP vice-chancellor, Datuk Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said this was among the university's social responsibility programme to the community in the state, particularly the teachers.
"This programme gives an opportunity to UniMAP to share expertise in the field of computer science to benefit the teaching fraternity in the state," he said in a statement, here today.
He said the selected lecturers were Dr Syed Zulkarnain Syed Idrus and Dr Wan Nor Ashiqin Wan Ali from the Human Development and Telecommunication Study Centre (IKOM), and Dr Hasnah Ahmad from the Computer Science and Communications Study Centre (PPKKP) UniMAP.
He said the programme was a collaboration between Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Malaysian Education Ministry (KPM) and UniMAP to integrate the computation thinking module and computer science in the school curriculum.
Dr Zul Azhar Zahid said that through the pogramme, UniMAP was also chosen as the centre for the Professional Development Course based on the recommendation of the industry to boost the educators' readiness.
"The centre plays a role for the Science and Computer Teaching Certificate programme for teachers in Perlis and boosting teaching and learning skills for teachers in the teaching of computer science," he said. — Bernama
