UPSI cooperates with three IPTS on Early Childhood Education

TANJUNG MALIM: Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) today signed an agreement with three Private Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTS) to collaborate in running the Bachelor of Education programme (Early Childhood Education).
The agreement for a period of five years involved UPSI with the International Islamic College (IIC), Kolej MCS and the International Institute of Management and Technology (IIMAT).
At the event held at the Dewan Sri Tanjung, Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah Campus, here, UPSI was represented by its Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohammad Shatar Sabran, IIC was represented by a member of its Board of Directors Datuk Jamaludin Hasan, while Tan Sri Shafie Salleh represented Kolej MCS and Dr Steve Yee Seng Seen represented IIMAT.
Earlier, Mohamad Shatar in his speech said the collaboration between UPSI as the referral university and the three IPTS concerned especially in the field of early childhood education opened up more opportunities to churn out educated students and professionals in the field of education.
Mohammad Shatar said early childhood education was one of the exclusive fields in UPSI.
"As such, the collaboration between UPSI and the three IPTS would benefit the two parties and it will also push up the name of UPSI as the number one educational university in the region.
"UPSI Chancellor Tuanku Zara Salim had told me before that no matter how much collaboration the university had with other institutions, the Tuanku had advised that UPSI should place importance on the quality of its graduates comparable with every scroll carrying the UPSI logo," he said.
In this regard, Mohammad Shatar called for the cooperation of the three IPTS to place importance in ensuring that the graduates produced were of high quality and fulfilled the requirement of the employment market. — Bernama
