Unemployed man and cattle breeder arrested for allegedly possessing RM10k in drugs

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police caught an unemployed man and a cattle breeder for allegedly possessing heroin and syabu worth RM10,669. The duo were arrested during a raid at a house in Mengkuang Titi, here.
Central Seberang Perai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid, who verified the case, said the police team swooped in at 1am today. According to him, the police discovered that the 47-year-old unemployed man had thrown something, which was folded with newspaper, on the floor.
He then attempted to flee together with the 37-year-old cattle breeder, but they ran straight into the police, who had surrounded the area.
The police seized a plastic pack, which contained some powder, believed to be syabu with a weight of 3.4g from the unemployed man. Another packet that contained a crystal form of material, believed to be heroin, was also confiscated.
"Police also seized a plastic pack, which contained a crystal material with a weight of 114.9g and another plastic pack which to be believed to contain syabu with a weight of 3.4g," he told reporters today. He said the police also seized three motorcycles from the duo, as well as also RM2,110.
Based on the investigation, the unemployed man, who is from Mengkuang Titi, had obtained the drugs from a man in Perai. He has a nine prior drug related cases.
"The cattle breeder, who is from Kampung Jawa Baru, also has previous criminal records.
"They have also tested positive for methamphetamine via a urine test," he said.
Nik Ros Azhan said the police would investigate the case under Section 32B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking, Section 15 (1)(a) and Section 12 (2) of the same act for drug abuse and drugs possession.
Section 32B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1962, carries a mandatory death penalty if the suspect is found guilty.
In Butterworth, North Seberang Perai district police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the police had issued 92 compounds to motorists, for various offences under the Road Transport Act 1987.
They also seized 15 motorcycles in an operation, known as Ops Samseng, at Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR) at 12.30am today.
