KUALA LUMPUR: All Barisan Nasional candidates contesting in the upcoming General Election (GE14) will be screened through an integrity test, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said integrity is a main criteria when fielding a candidate, taking into account the individual's background if they have a record of being involved in bribery issues, misuse of power or any other similar issues.
"Integrity is a main concern in choosing the candidates for the upcoming election for BN. We will consider if the individual is entangled with corruption and so on. A candidate for BN must be 'clean'. We would also take into consideration the winnability of the individual," he said after the launch of a book on integrity values for all religions and preschool's integrity module at Malaysia Integrity Institute.
He added that the party will have their own screening unit for this with the assistance from Malaysia Anti Corruption Commission (MACC).
