Car tries to avoid cat and fatally hits motorcyclist

KUANTAN: A motorcyclist was fatally knocked down by a car which was trying to dodge a cat at KM 1, Jalan Temerloh-Gunung Senyum, Kuala Krau, Temerloh, yesterday evening.
Temerloh police chief ACP Zundin Mahmood said security guard Awang Zaki Ali, 50, who was hard of hearing, died at the scene, while his daughter, Nur Farrah Wahida, 18, who was riding pillion sustained a broken leg.
"The incident is believed to have occurred when the 26-year-old driver of a Perodua Myvi lost control of her vehicle in an attempt to avoid a cat that was crossing the road and entered the opposite lane before colliding with the motorcycle," he told reporters here today.
Nur Farrah who is prelingually deaf is currently being treated at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh.
Zundin added that Awang and his daughter were not wearing helmets during the incident.
The case was investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama
