SHAH ALAM: The secondary school student who claimed that he was almost abducted by three men in a white van last Friday lied about the kidnapping.
Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Hamzah Alias said the boy admitted lying after police questioned him.
"We found that the 12-year-old student made up the story due to stress. He was apparently pressured to concentrate on his studies and was not given enough play-time," he said today.
It was learnt that the injury to the boy's arm was due to him accidentally breaking a window while playing football, and not related to any kidnapping attempt.
Hamzah said lodging false police reports is a serious offence and police will decide whether to take further action.
According to the police report, which went viral on social media on Monday, the boy claimed that the incident took place at noon as he was waiting for his school bus at a bus stop in Taman Pandan Indah.
A van stopped at the bus stop and two men allegedly dragged him into the vehicle, he claimed.
The boy said he was in the van for several minutes until he saw the Pandan Jaya signboard and a bus stop when he bit the arm of the abductor next to him to escape.
The man seated in the front passenger seat then opened the van door. The boy allegedly took the opportunity to kick the man and escaped to a bus stop nearby, according to his story.
The boy then claimed he took a bus to go to school. He said he sustained an injury to his hand after he accidentally bumped into a door at school.
The incident was then informed to a teacher in his school while the boy was receiving treatment at the Ampang Hospital.
The teacher then contacted the boy's parents, who picked him up at the school and later lodged a report at the Pandan Indah police station.
