11,406kg of LPG worth RM166,454 seized in Bukit Mertajam

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Penang Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) has seized some 11,406kg of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) worth RM166,454 from a warehouse in Nibong Tebal.
Penang KPDNKK director Mohd Ridzuan Ab Ghapar said the raid was held about 11.45pm yesterday after a surveillance on the building for a week.
"We seized 143 tanks of 50kg, 287 tanks of 12kg and 58 tanks of 14kg LPG," he told reporters at a press conference here today.
"All the seizure goods worth RM166,454 on the market. We also seized three lorries and other tools for investigation."
Mohd Ridzuan said the warehouse owner was not at the premise when the team had raided there.
"However, we have taken statements from a 40-year-old lorry driver caught during the operation," he said.
Mohd Ridzuan said the enforcers would investigate the case under Section 20(1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for concealment of controlled items.
