KL police have their biggest drug bust of the year

KUALA LUMPUR: City police seized 52.3kg of various drugs and drugs laced drinks worth more than RM4 million here, making it the biggest drug haul in the city this year.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Commissioner Datuk Mazlan Lazim said in the 9.20pm operation, a team from the City Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department detained a couple in their 30's and inspected their vehicle at the Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park, here on Monday.
"Checks found that 10 packets of Ecstasy powder and a house key were kept in their vehicle.
"Following interrogation, the two locals led police to a house in Taman Salak Selatan here where policemen found 308 packets of ecstasy powder, 800 erimin 5 pills, a packet of cannabis, three cannabis cigarettes and 20 packets of ketamine," he told reporters at the city police headquarters, here today.
Mazlan said the duo also subsequently led police to a 31-year-old mastermind, who was picked up at a condominium in Sunway Damansara, Petaling Jaya at around 6.40pm on Tuesday.
During the raid, police found 38.2kg of ecstasy powder and nine packets of ketamine within the housing unit that was used to process and package drugs before distribution.
The syndicate had been actively distributing their supplies to entertainment outlets throughout the Klang Valley for about a year.
"This seized drugs could have catered to 127,336 individuals if it ended up on the street," he added.
The suspects have been remanded under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Meanwhile, in a separate matter, Mazlan said police are intensifying their efforts towards identifying the culprit who threw an office chair that struck 14-year-old S. Satiswaran, killing him instantly while he was with his mother at a low-cost flats in Pantai Dalam, here on Monday.
He said police are in the awaiting the results of the post-mortem and DNA tests on the chair.
"We have to investigate thoroughly, we cannot simply point fingers. We are investigating the case thoroughly," Mazlan added. He stressed that police are investigating all angles, especially now that the case has been classified as murder.
No arrest have been made so far and Mazlan added that any news to the contrary is false.
