Bank Rakyat Foundation provides assistance to more than 500 students in Kuala Krai

KUALA KRAI: More than 550 primary students from low income families in the Kuala Krai parliamentary constituency today received financial aid through the Back-to-School Programme from the Bank Rakyat Foundation.
Foundation chairman Tan Sri Shukry Mohd Salleh said the aid was intended to reduce the burden of the parents as well as to help boost the children's spirits in starting the new school session.
"The foundation is always concerned with the difficulties facing parents with of low-income, especially in providing for their children's school needs," he said at the presentation of the school aid, here today.
The event was officiated by Dabong assemblyman Datuk Ramzi Abdul Rahman and was also attended by Head of the Sports Education Sector in the Ministry of Education Dr Zuber Hassan, Head of Bank Rakyat Region Six, Azman Abdul Aziz and Bank Rakyat Kuala Krai Manager Abdul Razak Embong.
He said the foundation always supported the government's efforts to help ease the burden of people with the rising cost of living.
Kelantan was the third state to benefit from the programme, after Perak and Sarawak, and it will be expanded to Johor, Melaka, Selangor, Kedah, Terengganu and Sabah.
"Those involved will receive a RM100 assistance which will be given through their Bank Rakyat accounts," he said.
Meanwhile, Mohd Azlan Fakri, 30, whose daughter was one of the recipients of the aid, said he was grateful for the assistance given by the foundation to his second child Nur Aqilah Sofea, 7, who is in Year One.
The father of three children, aged between two and nine years, said he would use the money for his daughter's schooling needs. — Bernama
