Four motorcyclists killed in crash on North-South highway

IPOH: Four people were killed in a crash involving two motorcycles and a Proton Iswara car at KM278.9 of the North-South Expressway (northbound) after the Ipoh Selatan toll plaza at about 5.30am today.
The dead were Mohamad Hafiz Jabon, 33; Rafiq Hafizi Rahimi, 21; Muhsin Muhamad Wazer, 23, and Mohamad Syarif Mohamad Said, 30.
Ipoh police chief ACP Mohd Ali Thamby said Rafiq Hafizi who was on a Kawasaki Ninja and Mohamad Syarif, riding a Yamaha RXZ, died at the scene.
Mohamad Hafiz and Muhsin, who were riding pillion, both died at Intensive Care Unit, Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here, he said in a statement here.
"Based on information obtained from the driver of the car, who was unhurt, the motorcycles were part of a convoy from Simpang Pulai heading to Ipoh.
"At the location, the two motorcycles which were travelling at high speed grazed into each other and went out of control before rear-ending the Proton Iswara," he said. — Bernama
