JOHOR BARU: Muar police seized drugs with a street value of RM1.4 million from an unlikely place when they raided a hut in a temple compound.
They found 13kg of Ecstacy powder, 362gm of ketamine, 299gm of ganja, and 53gm of syabu. The hut was apparently used as a mini drug lab. Drug-making apparatus was also found during the Jan 19 raid, along with a microwave and colouring agents.
Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd today said, two men, aged 34 and 41, were arrested in the 4.30pm raid. Both tested positive for methamphetamine and have previous drug records.
They were remanded for seven days until Jan 26, and the case is being investigating under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death sentence upon conviction.
Police also seized three cars with a combined value of RM50,000 and RM4,000 in cash.
Mohd Khalil said police are still hunting for several drug pushers involved in this case.
He said so far this year the state NCID and STING have seized drugs worth RM 57.99 million and assets of RM19.08 million belonging to drug syndicates, while 15,991 people were arrested for drug-related offences.
