Remand extended on mother and son in murder case

JOHOR BARU: The remand order against a woman and her son for the murder of her husband has been extend by the magistrate's court here.
Magistrate Siti Hajar Ali granted the extension which ends on Jan 25, against five suspects, including the mother and son.
Several relatives were seen at the court compound when the suspects were brought in.
When the woman appeared in handcuffs, one of her relatives became visibly emotional and started crying.
On Jan 17, police arrested five suspects after a man was allegedly stabbed to death in Taman Nusa Bestari. The 46-year-old victim is believed to have been stabbed by his 17-year-old son in the 11.08am incident.
Police arrested the victim's son, wife and three of the teenager's friends shortly after police rushed to the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of Penal Code, which carries the death sentence upon conviction.
Police were originally informed of a break-in, but they became suspicious when they found that no valuables were stolen. Police also learnt that the wife suspected her husband was having an affair, and believe that jealousy was a likely motive for the murder.
The victim's teenage son had allegedly posted on Facebook that his father refused to give him money to buy cigarettes.
According to sources, the teenager had entered his home with three others around 8am, before the murder.
