Police catch man in public molest video

SUNGAI PETANI: Police have arrested the man who was captured on video molesting a young girl at a funfair here today.
Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Saifi Abdul Hamid said the man was apprehended in his house in Sungai Petani here after two police reports were lodged earlier on the incident.
"He was arrested at 3pm yesterday. The mother of the seven-year-old girl made a police report at 2.50am yesterday after seeing a video of the alleged act in Facebook that has gone viral,'' he said.
Saifi added the case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Child Act for physical and sexual assault on a child.
The man had apparently gone to the woman's house in Sungai Lalang at 11pm on Saturday and asked her permission if he could take the girl out to buy some food at Taman Bandar Baru here.
He brought the girl home at 1am.
Saifi had earlier said investigations also showed that the woman had confronted the man after she saw the video of the incident.
He allegedly told her that he was sorry before fleeing the scene.
The woman came to the Sungai Petani police station to lodge a report.
Saifi said based on the video clip, the incident took place at a funfair in Sungai Petani.
The girl has been taken to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for medical examination.
It was reported that a video of a man molesting a young girl had made its round on social media since today.
