Seacera can tender for bumiputra jobs

    PETALING JAYA: Seacera Group Bhd will now be able to participate in tender exercises earmarked for bumiputra companies after being conferred with Bumiputera Controlled Public Listed Company (BPLC) status.
    The tiles manufacturer said in a Bursa Malaysia filing that it had received a letter from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry approving the company to hold the status for a period of one year.
    “As a BPLC, the company is recognised by the government as part of the effort initiated by the government to provide opportunities to the bumiputra community, which at the same time enhancing the value of our business partners,” the group’s board of directors said.
    “Upon being conferred the status of BPLC, Seacera would be in compliance with any requirements of licenses imposed by the authority in the relevant subsidiaries requiring the BPLC status,” it added.
    In order to maintain its BPLC status, Seacera will be required to maintain a minimum of 35% voting rights by bumiputra shareholders.
