Jobless youth denies involvement in 7-Eleven gang robberies

KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed youth was charged in the sessions court here today on three counts of committing gang robbery at two 7-Eleven stores.
Syed Muhammad Nabil Syed Noh, 22, claimed trial to all the charges.
He allegedly robbed 7-Eleven employee Muhammad Nurariskimi Hazalisham, 18, with another person still at large, of 48 cartons of cigarettes worth RM792 at the 24-hour outlet at Jalan 7/23E, Taman Danau Kota, 4/12 Off Jalan Genting Kelang in Setapak, at 5.30pm on Dec 7, 2017.
On another charge, he allegedly robbed 7-Eleven employee Mahfuzah Manan, 34, with another person still at large, of 32 cartons of cigarettes and RM674 in cash at the same outlet at 7.30pm on Oct 16, 2017.
Syed Muhammad Nabil also stands accused of robbing 7-Eleven employee Hazlina Madinel, 19, with three others still at large, of 61 cartons of cigarettes worth RM1,014.50 at another 7-Eleven outlet at Star Parc Point, Jalan Genting Klang in Wangsa Maju here, at 2.27am on Jan 11, 2018.
He faces up to 20 years in jail and whipping for each of the charges, if convicted, under Section 395 of the Penal Code.
Judge Dr Gan Chee Keong set RM13,000 as bail with one surety for the first charge, and RM10,000 with one surety, for the second charge and third charge, respectively, and set Feb 9 for remention of the first case, and Feb 28 for remention of the second and third cases.
The court also imposed three additional conditions on the accused – to report to the nearest police station fortnightly, to refrain from harassing the alleged victims and prosecution witnesses, and to surrender his passport to the court.
Deputy public prosecutor Amirul Asyraf Abdul Rasid appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by counsel Azi Azlin Zulkifli. — Bernama
