KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) is targeting 100 parliamentary seats in Peninsular Malaysia in the upcoming 14th General Election, said DAP lawmaker Ong Kian Ming.
"I think our target is to try to win 100 seats in Peninsular Malaysia. If we do reach the target of 100 seats in Malaysia, I think we will have the moral authority to form the federal government. That will be the threshold we are trying to achieve," he said.
"I must admit that the going is tough. I won't paint a rosy picture to say that we will definitely be able to defeat the Barisan Nasional (BN)," he added, while highlighting the three main challenges that PH will be confronted with.
The three primary challenges the opposition are attracting the votes of undecided Malay supporters, retaining the level of support from prior elections, and presenting credible alternative policies to that of BN.
Of the 165 seats contested by PH, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia has been allotted 52 seats, followed by Parti Keadilan Rakyat with 51, the Democratic Action Party with 35 and Amanah will be standing for the remaining seats.
