PPBM and Amanah trying to reach consensus on Penaga and Kepala Batas seats

KEPALA BATAS: The Penang division of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) respectively are locked in a struggle to reach a consesus as to whom will contest the Penaga state seat in the 14th General Election
The Penaga seat has become a bone of contention between PPBM and Amanah who have both expressed their wishes to contest, while DAP's Kepala Batas division had also intimated they would like to contest.
Penang PPBM chairman Marzuki Yahya (pix) said although Pakatan Harapan (PH) seem to have resolved the parliament seats issue, there we certain seats like Penaga which needed to be straightened out.
"There are some seats we need to discuss and finalise," he told reporters.
It is also learnt PPBM are interested in contesting the Kepala Batas seat which Amanah seemed to have secured.
According to a source, although PH had announced that PPBM will contest for the Tasek Gelugor Parliament seat while Amanah will contest in Kepala Batas, PPBM still harbours hopes of contesting in Kepala Batas.
The Kepala Batas seat used to be under former premier Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi from Umno for close to two decades.
Marzuki also said the party had decided that the state PPBM deputy chairman Mohd Shariff Omar, who is former Tasek Gelugor MP, should contest the Tasek Gelugor seat .
"The party had decided to let Mohd Shariff contest at Tasek Gelugor, but we are still discussing on the 10 state seats.
"The 10 state seats name list should hopefully be finalised soon."
