KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested a 60-year-old contractor to assist with its probe into suspected graft in the Sabah railway project.
The male suspect is the fifth arrested in the case and he was held at the Sabah MACC office at 6pm yesterday.
It's learned that the anti-graft investigators had also seized some RM1.6 million in cash from the house of the contractor as they moved to freeze his accounts.
MACC is in the process of applying for a remand for the man, as well as remand extension for the four previous suspects.
The four suspects arrested on Jan 24 consist of a 58-year-old acting deputy director of a state department and also the chief engineer, two senior civil service engineers aged 37 and 39, and a 42-year-old contractor.
It was reported the MACC had frozen RM5.3 million in accounts in several banks in connection with the probe.
