KUCHING: Three men were injured after they were shot by a male suspect armed with a shotgun at a restaurant at Kuching City Mall Commercial Centre.
Sarawak CID chief Datuk Dev Kumar said, in the incident after midnight, a male suspect fired a shot into the restaurant wounding three male customers who were having a drink before fleeing in a silver Proton Waja car.
In a statement here today, he said a 47-year-old car repossessor was hit on his stomach and legs while a salesman, aged 42, was injured on his right leg and another car repossessor, aged 30, was injured on his left leg.
"All the three victims are friends and are currently admitted in the Sarawak General Hospital," he said, adding that initial investigations revealed that the suspect had a quarrel with the victims earlier.
"The suspect had apparently created a scene at a worker's hostel due to a misunderstanding with his girlfriend. The suspect was then warned by the hostel supervisor and the three victims not to create trouble at the hostel and was asked to leave," he said.
Dev said this incident was not gang-related and asked the public not to be alarmed.
"The identity of the suspect is known and we are currently hunting him down," he said adding that the police were looking for an individual, Patrick Buddy Siam, aged 30, from Rumah Antas, Skrang, Sri Aman to facilitate the investigation. "Anyone with information on his whereabouts is requested to call the nearest police station. All information will be kept strictly confidential," he added. — Bernama
