KEPALA BATAS: The body of a woman, believed to have been drowned, was found in a swimming pool of a golf club here yesterday.
The 50-year-old victim dressed in long pants and a T-shirt was found floating in the 1.2-metre deep children's pool by guests swimming in the adjacent adult pool.
Seberang Prai Utara (SPU) district police chief, ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the victim was already dead when police arrived at the scene after being alerted of the incident at 10.56am.
He said according to a witness who was about to swim in the next pool, she first saw the victim sitting alone by the pool but after a swim with some friends, she noticed the victim floating face down in the pool.
Noorzainy said club guests and workers immediately carried the victim out of the pool and tried to perform CPR to revive her but she was confirmed dead by a medical personnel who arrived shortly afterward.
"The police found RM500 in the victim's pants pocket and there were no signs of bruises or injuries on the body.
"She had no identification document on her," he said adding that the body was sent to Kepala Batas Hospital for post-mortem.
He urged anyone with information on the woman to contact the nearest police station to assist in investigations. — Bernama
