Astro gives an exclusive multiplatform coverage of Thaipusam

ASTRO will be providing audiences with the exclusive coverage of Thaipusam in Malaysia on multi-platforms through, TV, Radio, Astro GO, NJOI Now and Astro Ulagam, starting Jan 30. This year's theme which is Thiruarutpa, tells the story of Lord Murugan worship such as Thirumurugatrupadai and Pampan Swamigal.
Watch the Live coverage of Thaipusam from three temples in Ipoh, Penang and Sungai Petani on Jan 30 at 5pm until Jan 31 at 5pm on Astro Vinmeen HD (CH 231), Astro Vaanavil (CH 201) Astro GO, and NJOI Now.
Professor Dr G. Gnanasambandam will be providing scholarly commentary during the live overage on TV.
Mahendran Vellupillay, Kumaresh and Revathy will be providing updates from the temples while Meenakumari will be hosting from the studio.
Astro Ulagam will be streaming 24-hour live Thaipusam celebrations from five locations: Thanner Malai in Penang; Sri Subramaniya Swami Devasthanam Temple in Sungai Petani; Kallumalai in Ipoh; Sri Subramaniya Swami Aalayam in Kuala Selangor; and, Thandayuthabani Temple in Johor Bahru. The live streaming will begin on Jan 30th, 2018 at 5pm, and end Jan 31st, 2018, at 5pm (Malaysian time).
During the 24-hour live streaming, there will be additional cross-screening recordings of Thaipusam celebrations from Palani, Vadapalani and Tiruchirappalli in India.
Astro Ulagam is a dedicated microsite, where audiences can get live updates on Thaipusam celebrations.
The Astro Thaipusam 2018 live streaming will feature singer, T.L. Maharajan add to the festive atmosphere. Follow Thaipusam 2018 celebrations can find and post photos and videos on social media by using hashtag #VelVelVetrivel.
Bala Ganabathy, Aruna, Ratna, Guna and Nathiya are scheduled to air live from the locations, while Ahila, Sushmeetha, Revathy and Nithya Saigan will be hosting from the studio.
On the radio side, Raaga will be doing Outside Broadcast (OB) on Jan 30 (7pm to 12am) and Jan 31 (10am-8pm) at Batu Caves Temple.
There is a cultural show Raagavin Panpaadu Vizha, which will be held on Jan 30 from 8pm until 12am, where fans can enjoy traditional performances such as Mayilattam, Uyillattam, Urumi and Karagattam.
Raaga announcers Aanantha, Uthaya, Suresh, Raam, Revathy, Ahila, Gheetha, Shalu, Kavimaaran, Jay and Yashini will be hosting and performing at the show. Celebrities from India Venkat Prabhu, Premji, Vaibhav, Subbu, Sampath, Sana, Anjena and Director Saravana Rajan will be joining the performances too.
Audiences also stand a chance to win two pair of tickets to Kerala by submitting a creative slogan at Batu Caves during Raaga's on-ground event. The contest will begin from Jan 30 (7pm to 12am) to Jan 31 (6am to8pm).
