PETALING JAYA: Ten councillors from PKR and DAP staged a walkout earlier today from the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) full board meeting after a heated argument over a decision made by the One Stop Centre (OSC) committee.
The walkout started after councillor Terence Tan requested for a vote to decide the award of a higher plot ratio to KUB Malaysia Sdn Bhd for the construction of an office tower.
"According to the existing point system that MBPJ have, the correct plot ratio should be rewarded to KUB is 7.2 and not 8," Tan told reporters after the walkout.
"We are not trying to reverse the decision made by OSC, we just want to refine the decision for the benefit of the area."
KUB Malaysia Sdn Bhd who own the land on which the iconic A&W fast food chain sits, at Lorong Sultan, have applied to MBPJ to construct a 36-floor office tower.
However, MBPJ's approval only allows for the construction of a 20-floor building that would include four floors of a carpark, on the 0.4ha land.
