Father, son charged with hiding info on Abu Sayyaf

KUALA LUMPUR: A man and his son pleaded not guilty in the High Court here to a charge of deliberately hiding information on the terrorist group, Abu Sayyaf.
Ahmad Omar, 53, and his son, Jaffar Ahmad, 27, made the plea after the charge was read to them before Judge Datuk Azman Abdullah.
Jaafar, a construction worker, and Ahmad, a security guard, were alleged to have deliberately hidden the information on the Abu Sayyaf group when they were compelled under the law to disclose it.
They were alleged to have committed the offence at MAG-03 Persiaran Pangsa Baiduri, Taman Desa Baiduri, Hulu Langat, Selangor between Mar 1, 2017 and Aug 30, 2017.
The charge under Section 130M of the Penal Code provides for a maximum seven-year jail, or fine, or both if found guilty.
The prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor Noor Syazwani Mohamad Sobry, while both the accused were not represented.
The court set Mar 21 for a remention of the case and the appointment of lawyer. — Bernama
