KUALA LUMPUR: The Indian community can now invest in the Amanah Saham 1Malaysia (AS1M) after 1.5 billion additional units were opened for sale yesterday, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
"Starting today, the Indian community can invest in Amanah Saham 1Malaysia as 1.5 billion additional units have been made available specially for them as I had announced in #Bajet2018.
"Hopefully, this will further boost share ownership among the Indian community," he tweeted tonight.
On Jan 23, MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam in a media conference in Putrajaya said the initiative was expected to benefit 50,000 Indian in the country.
The distribution of AS1M by Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad, namely, a fully owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad, would be open until the shares were sold out. — Bernama
