Maxis, Axiata, Digi accept MCMC spectrum assignments

    PETALING JAYA: Maxis Bhd, Axiata Group Bhd and Digi.com Bhd today accepted the spectrum offers from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
    Maxis told Bursa Malaysia that its subsidiary had accepted the reissuance of its 2100MHz spectrum assignment comprising 2 x 15MHz (FDD) and 1 x 5MHz (TDD) with a validity of 16 years for an upfront price component fee of RM118.4 million and an annual fixed fee of RM50 million for the assignment period, effective on 2 April 2018.
    "The upfront price for the spectrum was paid today together with the acceptance of the offer."
    Axiata said its wholly owned subsidiary Celcom Axiata Bhd it was assigned 1950 MHz to 1965MHz and 2140 MHz to 2155MHz for a period of 16 years effective April 2, 2018, subject to price component payment of RM118.4 million being made in one lump sum before February 1, 2018 and annual fixed fee payment of RM50 million payable before December 15 throughout the assignment period.
    "Celcom has submitted the price component fee of RM118.4 million in one lump sum receipt of which has been acknowledged by MCMC today. The payment is funded mainly through its internally generated funds."
    Meanwhile, Digi said its wholly owned subsidiary Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (DigiTel) had accepted MCMC's offer granting it the reissuance of the 2100MHz spectrum assignment at 2x15MHz band for a period of 16 years effective April 2, 2018.
    "DigiTel has today paid to MCMC the price component fee of RM118.4 million in one lump sum."
