GEORGE TOWN: The Form Two student who attempted suicide after being accused of stealing his teacher's mobile phone at a school in Nibong Tebal has passed away at the Seberang Jaya Hospital early this morning.
Seberang Prai Municipal Council (MPSP) councillor M. Satees told theSun that the teenager's blood pressure and pulse started to drop last night.
He, however, said it stabilised but the teenager's father was informed by doctors that they had to turn off the life support as her brain stopped responding at 3am. She passed away half an hour later.
A press conference is scheduled to be held at the mortuary at 11am later.
The incident had drawn the ire of politicians from both sides of the divide, with state Deputy Chief Minister II Prof. Dr. Ramasamy calling on the school to take stern action instead of taking punitive measures like transferring the teacher to a desk job.
