Six-month jail for man who threatens woman at knife-point

PETALING JAYA: An unemployed man who threatened a woman friend by pointing a knife at her was sentenced to six months' jail by the magistrate's court here today.
Magistrate Nurshahirah Abdul Salim handed down the sentence on Hazwan Hassan, 26, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was charged with criminally intimidating Nor Syazuwani Yahaya, 18, who has two children, by warning the woman to not provide information to the police. The offence was committed at a house at Pangsapuri Lagoon Perdana, Jalan PJS 9/1A, Bandar Sunway here, at 6.30am last Jan 29.
The charge, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to two years, or fine, or both, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Mary Phoon Keat Mee prosecuted, while Hazwan was unrepresented. — Bernama
