ON Feb 1, Carlsberg came a calling, visiting theSun in annual tradition, pomp and grandeur. Though a yearly affair, the visit is one looked forward to with excitement and anticipation.
Bearing well wishes and goodies parallel to its "Probably The Most Victorious Year" campaign – this year's backdrop comprised four gigantic red bottle caps, each bearing the numbers 2, 0, 1 and 8, along with large replicas of Carlsberg's iconic green bottles at the back, and Carlsberg branding taking centrestage, up front.
The celebration took off with a warm welcome by the gracious emcee, followed by a four-man wushu performance. Despite the blistering heat, all eyes were on the skilled and agile martial artists who ended their presentation swirling flags of Carlsberg's iconic green.

To commemorate the occasion, Carlsberg Malaysia managing director Lars Lehmann was invited up front to strike three "giant bottlecaps", while Sun Media Corporation executive director Ching Chun Keat was summoned to strike the last.
Lehmann, on hitting the caps one by one – each turning over to reveal Chinese characters bearing auspicious sayings like "Be Jolly Together", "Abundance of Happiness" and "A Simply Satisfying Year". Ching, called for Lehmann to perform the final strike together, on cap bearing number 8.
On the last strike, giant Carlsberg bottles in the background "popped" strewing golden streamers into the air. Simultaneously, the last cap flipped to depict Carlsberg's wish for the new year, which also surmises the essence of its CNY campaign "Probably The Most Victorious Year".
Carlsberg's management team then presented a memento to theSun's management team, afterwhich "the real party started". It was catching up and putting faces to namecards and emails as management and employees of theSun and Carlsberg mingled. Chilled beverages under the Carlsberg portfolio, traditional Chinese snacks and a "digital interactive swipe" game that awarded gifts upped the festivity of the occasion.

Besides wishes for "Probably The Most Victorious Year" to all its fans, consumers and friends at theSun, the aforementioned is also Carlsberg's theme for its CNY campaign and its wish for the year.
"Probably The Most Victorious Year" is also part of a large scale series of promotions, where consumers stand to win thousands in cash prizes and giveaways via Carlsberg Malaysia's "Yum Seng" promotions, "Probably The Best CNY Shopping Experience" and other related consumer promotions at participating outlets, supermarkets and hypermarkets.
