Pedestrian hit by cars when crossing road

    JOHOR BARU: A man is believed to have been killed after being knocked down by vehicles while crossing the road at Km 18 of the Pasir Gudang Highway, heading towards Perling, here today.
    Johor Baru Selatan police chief ACP Shahurinain Jais said a report of the incident was lodged at 7am and initial investigation revealed that the victim who did not possess any personal identification documents is believed to have been hit by several vehicles when crossing the highway.
    "However, there were no witnesses to the incident which had resulted in the victim dieing at the scene following severe injuries sustained to the head and body. The victim's body was sent to the Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru for an autopsy," he said in a statement today.
    Shahurinain said the victim is estimated to be in his 30s and had tattoos on his right shoulder and left arm.
    The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
    He added that efforts were underway to locate his family members and urged those with information on the incident to contact the Johor Baru Selatan district police headquarters at 07 2237977 or 07-2277566 to facilitate in the investigation of the case. — Bernama
