SANDAKAN: The police have detained an Indonesian to facilitate investigations into the killing of his wife at 10th mile Kampung Sandak, near here.
The 40-year-old suspect was picked up at about 6.30am at a house in an oil palm estate located in 12th mile Jalan Settlement.
Sandakan police chief, ACP Azhar Mohd Hamin said the suspect was investigated for the murder of his 38-year-old wife, also an Indonesian, under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
He said the man had allegedly kicked, pushed and slammed his wife on the floor of the couple's house, rendering her unconscious.
The incident occurred about 8pm yesterday after the victim had attempted to prevent a quarrel between the suspect and one of their children, he added.
Azhar said neighbours sent the injured woman to the Duchess of Kent Hospital here before she was pronounced dead at about 9.20pm while undergoing treatment. — Bernama
