Police report lodged against Malaysian Tamil Kural president

GEORGE TOWN: A blogger has lodged a police report against Seberang Jaya Municipal Councillor David Marshel for alleged incitement on the suicide case of 14-year-old M. Vasanthapiriya.
Blogging under the name of Raggie Jessy, Rajvinder Singh Jessy, said David was out to cause trouble by alleging that the girl was murdered.
After issuing a challenge to David, who is the Malaysian Tamil Kural president to come out with evidence to back up his assertions, Rajvinder decided to lodge a report against the former tonight on grounds of trying to create trouble for the authorities.
The late Vasanthapiriya was laid to rest on Friday.
She committed suicide after she was accused by a teacher at her school in Nibong Tebal for allegedly stealing a smartphone.
There is an outcry from the family, friends and society at large over the issue and David made the statement moments after she was declared dead by specialists.
Rajvinder said that David should have practised caution and not be overly emotional when issuing statements, saying the authorities and the teacher deserved to be given the benefit of doubt until the investigations were completed.
He added that David's remarks had caused tension to emanate around the case.
David could not be reached for comment.
