MIRI: Incessant rain since yesterday evening has caused flash floods in Miri City forcing at least one primary school to close temporarily.
Miri Fire and Rescue chief Law Poh Kiong said SJKC Tukau was closed at 11am to enable evacuation of the pupils to the main road.
"The pupils were brought out to the main road as parents were concerned that their children might be trapped at the school in view of the rising water level on the route," he told Bernama here today.
As at noon, 156 pupils and 18 preschoolers have been evacuated.
Law said the affected housing estates included Taman Strawberry, Taman Tunku, and Eco Park, while the villages were Kampung Pujut Sungai Adong and Kampung Luak. — Bernama
