KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) signed the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR), aimed at preventing its officers from involving in corruption and abuse of power.
The pledge-signing ceremony held at Menara SSM, Kuala Lumpur was led by its chief executive officer Datuk Abu Samah Shabudin and witnessed by Datuk Abdul Samat Kasah, director of the Community Education Division of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
MyCC, in a statement today said, the signed IBR, among others, placed responsibility on the MyCC's officers to comply with the laws, regulations, procedures and national policies related to the prevention of corruption and abuse of power; and provide full cooperation and report to the MACC in preventing any corruption and abuse of power.
Abu Samah said the IBR of the MyCC would empower its officers to carry out their duties with integrity and transparency.
He said there was also room for the MyCC to cooperate with the MACC in addressing potential leakages from the process of national procurement.
"This is because the Competition Commission has the power to investigate bid-rigging cases as some of the current corruption and misconduct cases exhibit signs of bid-rigging," he added.
He hoped the strategic cooperation between MyCC and MACC could be further strengthened in the future to protect the welfare of the people, the economy and the nation. — Bernama
